Dedicated to an integrated sector

The Pessac experimental site is a tool serving an integrated sector whose partners are both at the upstream and downstream end of production. It contributes holistic solutions to issues involving seed growth, enhancing the value of end products as well as processing. Within this framework, the experimental workshop participates in concerted activities, at the national as well as European level, in promoting the value of oils or proteins for food or industrial use.
Since 1999, the Pessac experimental station is a joint subsidiary of CETIOM and SOFIPROTEOL.

In touch with research centers

The Pessac experimental site maintains excellent relations with other research centers in France or abroad: The Fatty Matter Institute (ITERG) located at the same site, the CRITTs, the University of Compiegne, the TNO (The Netherlands), the Fraunhofer (Germany) etc.
At the regional level, it is located within an excellent scientific and industrial environment, near the University of Bordeaux, CEREOL-SAILPOL crushing and refining plants and the soybean protein concentrate manufacturing plant of the Central Soya European Proteins Company (France).

In 1998, extensive modernization of the Pessac site was made possible by the awarding of a European subsidy "ERDF" (European Regional Development Fund). The Aquitaine region, ONIOL, SOFIPROTEOL, ONIDOL and UNIP also contributed to financing the program. The project was developed in cooperation with the DRRT (Regional Delegation for Research and Technology).

A member of the SUSTOIL program

CREOL is a member of the SUSTOIL program. The aim of SUSTOIL is to develop advanced biorefinery schemes to convert whole EU oil-rich crops (rapeseed, olive and sunflower) into energy (fuels, power and heat), food and bioproducts (chemicals and/or materials) making optimal uses of the side streams generated during farming/harvesting, primary processing (e.g. oil extraction and refining) and secondary processing (e.g. transesterification).
